About
Meg Edwards
Hello 🙂 I’m Meg,
Hello, I’m Meg local, conservative & independent
You might know me through :
- our sustainable construction business
- Kindergarten parents
- Rotary
- Soccer
- Scouts
- Church
- CWA
- Newhaven Alumni
- local theatre groups
- Stopping 340metre high wind turbines
- having been an effective councillor in our neighbouring council
Bass Council has
- Spent over double the budget on a building in Cowes
- Declared a position in the federal referendum
- Deemed art be bought based on gender
- funded membership, councillor, staff time and expenses for the Climate Change Alliance and opened a new business “The Environmental Fund”
- penalised ratepayers that service our vital tourist economy with short term rentals
- Neglected the old school site
While… Our urgent, but not new, issue is erosion in Inverloch. Hindsight can argue where what we need to protect, now is. Yet, the Surf Beach has been politicised for too long.
If elected: at the November council meeting I will raise an urgent notice of motion that takes a two pronged approach:
- to immediately protect what we have now while
- concept design and feasibility work is done for a permanent solution which could also resolve the poor path status
Wonthaggi needs a Hydro Spa Pool. Our disabled and elderly people deserve better.
Cape Paterson joins Inverloch and Wonthaggi in a shortage of footpaths and good lighting yet has an abundance of potholes.
It’s time for our towns to reflect their beautiful character and charm.
Local Government is for local not ideology. Advocacy should help our community – for:
- More police and community safety
- School infrastructure
- Aquatic facilities and
- Saving Inverloch
It’s time to elect one of us:
- a local, passionate about our region
- with demonstrated effective leadership and experience.
For a different and better direction.
Back to basics.
Doing what matters with transparency, accountability and action. I kindly ask you to vote 1 Meg Edwards
Transparecy & ethical local government that efficiently delivers only core essential services and infrastructure to serve & let you get on with living your life, is what drives Meg’s interest in representation.
A Gippslander of farming stock, Meg is experienced in business, farming, family and local government. Meg is genuine, authentic, listens and seeks to understand the broad and diverse interests or our communities which enables her effective representation. Above all else she values kindness – “debate the issues, not the person”.
Before starting a family, Meg worked as a Relationship Executive in Agri & Business Banking after agribusiness export marketing. For the last 14 years Meg has co-managed a sustainable, bespoke residential construction business, continued to implement regenerative practices in farming and raising two fine young boys into positive manhood. Her postgraduate studies in business provided theory, and growing up milking cows and playing sport is what shaped her work ethic and values.
In her spare time, Meg enjoys songwriting and spending time with family in Inverloch or on the farm & elsewhere in Victoria’s beautiful, productive, creative and friendly regional areas. With her demonstrated commitment Meg cares about what kind of future the next generations will inherit. She is determined it will be a positive one.
